Our five core values ‘panchtantra’ are our ideas about what is most important to us in our company —what we want to live by and live for. They are the silent forces behind many of our actions and decisions.The objective of reinforcing these values on our website is for us to become fully conscious of their influence, honing our sense of self-direction and ensuring effective decision making in support of our core beliefs.

Ayurveda

Our company is first and foremost committed to promoting natural bath and beauty products that utilize the timeless wisdom of Ayurveda.

Harmony with senses
AyurSens is differentiating itself by stylishly reinventing Ayurveda, making it more relevant for today’s lifestyle. We are not in the business of practicing medicine, and while the healing properties of natural herbs and essential oils will always be infused in our products, they will always be aesthetically appealing to our senses. It is our core belief that all products created by us, should always be in harmony with our senses.

Social responsibility
We have made a conscious choice to manufacture our products in a rural cottage industry environment. We take seriously, our responsibility to follow internationally accepted norms for health and safety of our staff. Due to the unique nature of our working environment, often times, we have to extend our definition of responsibility beyond the walls of our facilities, into the homes and lives of our staff. We have been proven right, time and again, that our focus on social responsibility is great for business.

Sustainable sourcing
AyurSens purveys a wide product range for both its international and domestic market segment. We don’t operate a business that controls every link of its supply chain. Instead, we operate a cost effective blend of owned farms and herb gardens, supplemented with a few select partners for our supply of raw natural products. Our choice of partners emphasizes sustainable farming and harvesting practices free of chemicals, and respectful of the communities they support.

Against animal testing
We are strongly against cruelty to animals and will never associate with any product that uses animals for testing. AyurSens will also actively oppose animal testing by mobilizing business and social pressures through our network of communities, employees, suppliers and our customers.

AyurSens story

Many of us dream big dreams, think lofty thoughts, but it’s always challenging to translate them into reality. This article is about how it all came together for me, for AyurSens..

AyurSens was always meant to be! For as long as I can remember, I dabbled in homemade herbal beauty both for my personal use and as a side business for my family. As you can imagine, I grew up in a home that was surrounded with the sights and smells of herbs and flowers. During my high school and college, I was supplementing my pocket money by running a small business, making soaps in our kitchen and selling them to my friends. 

It surprises me now, that despite all this early familiarity with herbal beauty, my education was taking me on a different path. I studied the culinary arts for 3 years at the Institute of Hotel Management. On completion of this course, I felt the need to augment my education by training as a Human Resources consultant. My idea at that time was to open up my own restaurant. With no one willing to invest in a rookie like me, I found myself searching for a job.

I landed a job in the global services industry and in time found myself working on international projects. This led to a spate of assignments that had me travelling to the far corners of USA and Canada, living out of my suitcase for months on end. One of the benefits of consulting work, if there is a silver lining to that cloud, is the amount of time you get to doodle on paper napkins at airports. Over the course of these years, the desire to build my own business, embracing cool new tools for productivity enhancement and leveraging an increasingly accessible global supply chain, became a fascination. It was the stuff of my mile high jet lagged dreams and many crumpled napkins.

It still amazes me how long it took me to figure out that I had been carrying my business with me in my hand bag all along; the herbal goodies that customs officers so enjoyed smelling! Thankfully, I managed to connect these dots of my aspirational dream business with the time tested home grown theme of herbal beauty, and AyurSens was born.

AyurSens could have as easily slipped into oblivion, like a shooting star, had it not been for my family. My Dad with his banking background is a financial guru, who knew what it took to make a sustainable business out of this idea. And my mother knew how to keep me from becoming a pest when my impatience threatened to overpower me. And of course, no boxes would have been lifted had it not been for my younger brother, who is an extremely supportive workaholic, a fortunate condition that I fully exploit. When people think about startups in North America, they think friends and class mates, and invariably everyone in their newco is at the same level of inexperience. Not so for me. I count myself as extremely lucky to have found the wisdom, the support and the financial backing all in one place, my family. I can proudly say that my family has been the wind beneath AyurSens wings.

We are blessed with an amazing team mostly based in rural India that is proud to call AyurSens their company. This article would be incomplete, if I did not mention our loyal customers, who gave us our initial break, who took a chance on us when we were an unknown entity. To them, I convey the AyurSens promise to never disappoint. We will continue to experiment and craft new and exciting products that remain true to our five core values ‘panchtantra’.

AyurSens 'ek anokhi soch'

'AyurSens Naturals' for me is not a company, its a concept 'ek anokhi soch'. To me AyurSens is the harmonious blend of ancient wisdom enshrined in Ayurveda with constantly evolving products that delight our senses.

Let me expound on this theme. Ayurveda, the 5000 years old science of life, considers our body to be made up of tissues 'dhatus', waste products 'malas', and energetic forces 'doshas'. The 'tri-doshas' are 'Vata' that influences our movements, 'Pitta' manages our metabolism while 'Kapha' provides structure and lubrication.

Now let's fast forward to our present times where an epidemic of stress related problems are being cured with some truly amazing medical research using complex chemical formulations. Yes, unfortunately, all those pills are nothing but chemicals.

AyurSens is a natural alternative that restores purity and strength in our body. Not through intense doses of vitamins and chemicals, with its unnatural highs and lows, but gently, in harmony with our senses.

I envision promoting good health as much as beauty. It is my belief that lasting beauty is not possible without a healthy body and happy mind. I began this quest in 2001, although the seeds of this dream go way back. For as long as I can recollect, natural herbs and oils have been part of my own personal regimen. Over the past decade, I studied Ayurveda and while I don't claim to have mastered this subject, I became an avid believer in its concepts.

AyurSens is a dynamic team, that is crafting new and exciting bath and beauty products, based on Ayurvedic concepts, infused with pure herbs and essential oils.
